However, it was not an easy road for Xuerui who put in extra effort in training sessions and showed full commitment and dedication that helped her to obtain top class skills which are required to become a refined shuttler in the world of badminton.

In the Women?s Singles first round, Xuerui started her campaign against her younger compatriot Di Suo who participated in tournament as a qualifier. The higher ranked Chinese lady was on a completely different level in the arena as she easily won this battle in straight sets with a dominating margin.

In the Women?s Singles quarter-final, Xuerui was up against her team-mate Li Han who has been making her presence felt to the world by playing competitive badminton in the recent months. The second seeded Chinese player had to dig into her arsenal to overpower her younger compatriot in three games with a decent margin on the board.

In the semi-final contest of the tournament, the lofty Xuerui took on Japan?s in-form shuttler Minatsu Mitani who won the Women?s Singles title at the last month?s French Open Super Series 2012. However, the impressive Chinese lady was in her prime form as she played dominating badminton and won the match in straight sets with a reasonable margin.

In the final contest of this championship, Xuerui was up against Thailand?s Ratchanok Intanon who also remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. Many thought it would be a wonderful fight but Xuerui did not let it happen as she played with complete control in her shots and remained in command throughout the match.

She showed no mercy to her lower ranked Thai challenger and remained successful in winning the title match in straight sets in a lopsided fashion by a huge total on score board.
